Pennrail Division Map

This page will have feature a division map of Pennrail, and Division by Division schematics. (A working draft can be found here)

PENNRAIL essentially has four operating divisions:

Buffalo Division – Buffalo, NY to Emporium/Keating

Lock Haven Division – Lock Haven to Williamsport via Avis/NYC

Bald Eagle Division – Tyrone to Lock Haven with Bellefonte Branch

Bedford Division – Altoona to Cumberland via Bedford

Abandoned: Corning Division – Jersey Shore Jct. to Corning, NY (ex NYC)

PENNRAIL has trackage rights over PC/Conrail:

·     Emporium/Keating – Lock Haven via Driftwood & Renovo

·     Williamsport – Harrisburg (Enola) via Northumberland

·     Tyrone – Altoona/Hollidaysburg

PENNRAIL also has trackage rights over WM/Chessie:

Cumberland – Hagerstown

Recent digging of old material suggests that Pennrail controlled all the way down to Keating, and that the rights on PC/Conrail began at Keating, and not Emporium. PSMRRC’s 4th Layout (1985-1997) represented the Bald Eagle Division and the western half of the Lock Haven Division, up through Avis. Rob McKeever’s current effort (2005-2007) represents the Bedford Division from above Hyndman up to Brooke’s Mills.

Below is a system map compiled by Shane Binder in 1999, although it includes the ex-PRR Rochester Branch, which was not in the standard PR Theory.  It also greatly inflated the coverage of the UP&E, as that was simply a short-line heading East out of State College, Pa. Even for its flaws, it conveys the general idea of Pennrail well.
